A Novel Approach to Programming Education Using Gamification

Abstract: This paper proposes a novel approach to programming education using gamification. Gamification is the use of game-like elements in non-game contexts. In the context of programming education, gamification can be used to make programming more engaging and motivating for students. This can be done by using game-like elements such as points, badges, and leaderboards. Gamification can also be used to create challenges and obstacles for students to overcome. This can help students to develop their problem-solving and critical thinking skills. The proposed approach was evaluated in a study with 100 students. The results of the study showed that students who participated in the gamified programming course had significantly higher levels of engagement and motivation than students who participated in a traditional programming course. The gamified programming course also resulted in students learning more programming concepts. The proposed approach has the potential to revolutionize programming education.
